Working Together to Strengthen Families

Collaboration in action as organizations come together with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office to strengthen our community and move families from crisis to stability.

The Power of Collaboration in Action

One of the greatest reminders of why collaboration matters is the story of “John.”

John moved to Lansing from North Carolina with his girlfriend and their young child, hoping for a fresh start. But over time, life began to unravel. The relationship broke down, his girlfriend was incarcerated, their child entered foster care, and John eventually lost his job and became homeless.

When the City of Lansing was mandated to relocate 57 individuals experiencing homelessness from Dietrich Park into temporary hotel housing, they reached out to the 100 Families Initiative because of the collaborative work already happening through our alliance.

Walking Alongside People in Crisis

John became one of the individuals connected to our network of support.

Through coordinated care, relationship-building, prayer, encouragement, and community partnerships, we were able to walk alongside him during one of the most difficult seasons of his life. Agencies, advocates, and community partners helped create a pathway toward stability and hope.

Today, John is stably housed.

His story is a powerful example of what can happen when organizations work together instead of in silos. It reminds us that moving families and individuals from crisis to stability is not the work of one agency alone—it is the result of collective impact, compassion, and consistent support.

Current Community Need

As we celebrate this victory, we also recognize the ongoing needs in our community.

We are currently supporting a refugee family of nine following the tragic loss of the husband and father. The mother is now caring for her children alone while living in unstable conditions. We are working with community partners to help stabilize the family through housing, essential resources, and ongoing support. If your organization may be able to assist, we would love to connect.

Thank You for Your Partnership

Thank you for continuing to be part of this growing movement to bring hope, healing, and stability to families across our community.
