Celebrating Our Partnership with the Lansing Housing Commission
Affordable housing is more than a roof over someone’s head—it is the foundation upon which families can begin rebuilding their lives.
Recently, I had the privilege of attending the grand opening of two new affordable housing developments by the Lansing Housing Commission. Together, these developments will provide 118 affordable homes for individuals and families in our community.
This milestone represents more than new buildings. It represents new opportunities, renewed hope, and a stronger foundation for families seeking stability.
At our most recent 100 Families Alliance meeting, we were honored to recognize the Lansing Housing Commission as one of our presenting partners. Their commitment to expanding affordable housing and collaborating with community organizations has made a meaningful difference in the lives of the families we serve.
Since joining the 100 Families Initiative, the Lansing Housing Commission has referred 12 families to the Alliance. Through the coordinated efforts of Family Advocates and our network of churches, nonprofits, healthcare providers, government agencies, and community partners, 6 of those 12 families have already moved from crisis to stability.
That is the power of collective impact.
Housing alone does not solve every challenge a family faces. Families often need employment, transportation, healthcare, mental health support, financial coaching, childcare, and a network of people who will walk alongside them. When organizations work together, families receive the comprehensive support they need to build lasting stability.
The new housing developments are helping lay the foundation. Together, we are building lives.
Like the story of the bricklayers, every partner brings another brick. The Lansing Housing Commission provides the foundation of safe, affordable housing. Our Alliance helps surround families with the resources and relationships they need to thrive.
Together, we are not simply building apartments.
We are building a cathedral of hope—one family, one partnership, and one brick at a time.
