Our July 100 Families Initiative Alliance Meeting brought together nonprofit organizations, churches, government agencies, businesses, and community leaders around one shared goal: helping families move from crisis to stability.
A Lesson from St. Peter’s Basilica
I opened the meeting by sharing a personal story about visiting St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome with my children. As we climbed the 551 steps to the top, I was reminded that one of the world’s greatest cathedrals was not built in a day. It took a strong foundation, countless bricks, and generations of people working together toward one vision.
That story became a powerful illustration of our work. Just as a cathedral is built one brick at a time, lasting stability is built through collaboration, commitment, and a strong foundation.
What Stability Really Means
Using bricks as an object lesson, we reflected on an important truth: a single brick cannot build a cathedral. Likewise, no single organization can help a family achieve lasting stability alone.
True stability requires addressing multiple areas of life, including housing, employment, financial wellness, mental health, and supportive relationships. When organizations work together, families receive coordinated care that leads to lasting change rather than temporary solutions.
Working Together to Build Hope
The meeting concluded with an engaging panel discussion featuring experts in housing, employment, financial empowerment, and mental health. Each speaker shared valuable insights on how collaboration strengthens families and creates pathways to long-term success.
At the 100 Families Initiative, we believe every partner is a vital brick in building stronger families and healthier communities. Together, we are doing more than responding to immediate needs—we are creating lasting foundations for hope.
Because when we work in unity, we are not simply providing services. We are building a Cathedral of Hope—one family, one partnership, and one brick at a time.
