Rethinking the System of Care

Partner Newsletter: Strengthening Systems Through Collaboration 🌟

Dear Partners,

Thank you for being part of a powerful and growing network committed to helping families move from crisis to stability. Our recent panel discussion brought together leaders across sectors to address a critical question: How do we build sustainable systems that truly support our communities?

Several key themes emerged that are directly relevant to our shared work.

  1. Purposeful Collaboration
Collaboration remains at the center of sustainable impact. As one panelist shared, “We can’t do anything alone… working together, we’re that much stronger.” However, we were also challenged to ensure that partnerships are intentional—aligned in mission and designed to strengthen outcomes, not just to access funding. This reinforces the work we are doing together through the 100 Families Initiative, where coordinated care continues to drive results.
  2. Strong Governance and Leadership
A consistent message was the importance of a strong and engaged board. Organizations must regularly assess their board composition, identify gaps in expertise, and ensure members are actively contributing through time, talent, and resources. Effective governance is essential for long-term sustainability.
  3. Diversified Funding Strategies
Relying on a single funding source presents significant risk. Agencies are encouraged to pursue a balanced approach—combining grants, public funding, and individual donors. Building relationships with donors is especially critical, as they often provide stability when other funding sources shift.
  4. Clear and Consistent Storytelling
The ability to clearly communicate your organization’s impact is essential. Panelists emphasized the importance of aligning messaging across staff, board members, and partners so that everyone is telling the same story. Strong storytelling not only strengthens funding applications but also increases community engagement.
  5. Infrastructure and Capacity Matter
Growth must be supported by strong internal systems. As discussed, nonprofits are complex organizations that require investment in operations, staffing, and infrastructure. Expanding too quickly without this foundation can strain teams and reduce effectiveness.

Looking Ahead
What stood out most was the strength of this network. With nearly 100 organizations engaged, we are building something significant—a coordinated system of care that is beginning to shift outcomes for families in our community.

Thank you for your continued partnership, collaboration, and commitment to this work.
