A Community Anchor Helping 44 Families Move Toward Stability

The Eastside Community Action Center (ECAC) is one of the most dedicated and impactful partners in the 100 Families Initiative. Located in the heart of Lansing’s Eastside neighborhood, ECAC has become a lifeline for families who are trying to rebuild, regain stability, and believe again that a better future is possible. With 44 families currently connected to their services through HopeHub, their role in our community cannot be overstated.

What makes ECAC extraordinary is the depth and breadth of its support. Families arrive with layered challenges — housing instability, unemployment, financial crisis, food insecurity, school difficulties, or emotional stress — and ECAC meets them with dignity, compassion, and practical resources.

Their Food Pantry and Clothing Closet provide immediate relief for families struggling to meet basic needs. Their Housing Opportunity Program helps low-income residents move toward homeownership or secure safe and stable housing. Their Financial Literacy Program equips families with the skills needed to manage a budget, build savings, and work toward long-term independence.

ECAC also serves as a powerful support for youth. Through programs like the After School Action Program, COPE for Youth, and the STAR Summer Literacy Program, children receive tutoring, meals, mentoring, emotional support, and opportunities to grow academically and socially. These programs not only prevent learning loss but create a safe, nurturing environment where young people can thrive.

For adults navigating crisis or transition, ECAC offers COPE Case Management Services, emotional counseling, support for individuals re-entering society after incarceration, and resources for those overcoming domestic violence or recovery challenges. Their licensed social workers provide free counseling for individuals, couples, and families — ensuring emotional and mental well-being is part of the journey toward stability.

ECAC’s involvement in 44 family cases reflects their unique ability to address multiple barriers at once. When a family is referred to them, ECAC doesn’t just meet one need — they become a steady, supportive presence walking alongside families until hope is restored.

We are deeply grateful for the Eastside Community Action Center. They embody what the 100 Families Initiative is all about: collaboration, compassion, and a community that refuses to give up on its people. Together, we are helping families move from crisis to stability, one step at a time.
