Discover how the 100 Families Initiative is helping families in Lansing and beyond overcome crisis, achieve stability, and thrive through community collaboration.
Martha, a single mother of two, was overwhelmed by mounting bills after losing her job. With her electricity shut off and no clear path forward, she turned to United Against Poverty for help. Through the 100 Families Initiative, Martha received immediate support to restore her utilities, financial guidance, and assistance in finding new employment opportunities. Today, her electricity is restored, and she is actively pursuing stable work, bringing hope back to her family.
JD, a father of four, was struggling to provide for his family while caring for three children with disabilities. After being referred by Haven House, JD connected with the 100 Families Initiative. Through partnerships with four local organizations, JD’s electricity was restored, and his family received critical support to stabilize their housing and access vital services. JD is now working toward long-term financial independence, ensuring a brighter future for his children.
Monique, a mother of eight, was living in a shelter and facing significant challenges in caring for her children. With support from the 100 Families Initiative, she secured a 4-bedroom home through East Side Community Action, gained financial literacy training, and began part-time work. Her children now attend school and after-school programs, and Monique is taking steps toward homeownership, providing a safe and stable environment for her family.
These stories are just the beginning. With your support, we can help more families in Lansing and surrounding communities transition from crisis to stability. Your contributions enable us to provide housing assistance, personalized advocacy, and vital resources that make a real difference in people’s lives.
